House of Hope project has been created to find street children who are at risk of never integrating back into society and never going back to school. Our vision is to house 10-15 boys at a time in one place where they are tasked to take care of the compound and of each other. In the process, they will learn how to follow routine, take responsibility and work household chores, while being given vocational training (of their own choosing), weekly counselling and education in basic literacy and numeracy. This program, inspired by Betel (www.betel.org), has had worldwide success in completely reforming those who were once dependent on harmful substances, but also has had a 40% rate of drop-outs as the program is harsh on those who have lived the street life for years.
We are looking for sponsors who will partner with a boy here in Mbale to journey through this program for a minimum of two years. $100 per month will provide your sponsored child with rent, three meals and other essentials daily, medical, vocational training, literacy and numeracy tutoring along with weekly counselling from trained pastoral and social workers.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and improve conditions for these young men.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
